1      What is an audiobook?

Audiobooks are recordings of someone reading a book, mainly done by professional narrators. There are two versions of audiobooks, unabridged and abridged. Unabridged audiobooks are the original full versions of the book narrated word-for-word, without anything missing. Abridged audiobooks, on the other hand, are edited so that the length of the audiobook is shorter in duration than the full unabridged version. We try to offer as many unabridged audiobooks as possible at My Audiobook Library.

2      What is the difference between an eBook and a digital audiobook?

Both are offered as a digital download, but an eBook is text that must be read like a typical book while an audiobook is a recording of someone reading the book out loud for your listening enjoyment. An eBook is the digital version of the book that the reader must read to themselves and can be viewed on a computer, tablet, mobile phone, or eReader. A digital audiobook is the digital version of an audiobook where the reader listens to the book being read by a professional narrator and can be listened to on a computer, tablet, smartphone, or MP3 Player. An audiobook can come in many different formats including CD, Cassette Tape, MP3CDs, or digital download. only delivers audiobooks by digital download.

3      Do the digital audiobooks contain DRM restrictions?

No, all of the digital audiobooks offered at My Audiobook Library are DRM-free. DRM stands for Digital Rights Management and is used by publishers to prevent copyright infringement. However, there were a lot of issues with managing digital content that contained DRM so most digital audiobooks today are offered as DRM-free.

4      Can I try before I commit to a monthly membership?

No, we do not offer a free trial at this time. But we do have the most affordable prices for audiobooks in which members can save up to 70% Off Retail prices. Plus, members can cancel their membership at any time. There are no long-term commitments.

5      What payment methods do you accept?

We accept MasterCard, Visa, American Express, and Discover credit cards.

6      What is your cancellation policy?

You may cancel your Membership Plan at any time. If you cancel your membership, your credit card will not be charged on the next billing cycle. To cancel your Membership Plan, you may do so at “My Account” within the website.

7      What is your privacy policy?

We do not sell, rent, share or disclose personal information to third parties without your prior consent, except in limited circumstances where we may contract with others to perform tasks or services on our behalf. For example, we might retain a company to process credit card payments.

8      How do I update my personal information?

After you have Signed In, you can change your Name, Address, Email Address, Password, and/or Credit Card Number from your “My Account” page (located in the upper right corner of the page underneath your name after you are Signed In).

9      Can I change my membership plan?

Yes, members may change their Membership Plan at any time from the “My Account” page after they are Signed In. When a member changes their Membership Plan, the change will be implemented on their next billing date.

10      What should I do if there is a problem with an audiobook?

Send us an email from our Contact Us page and we will fix the problem right away.

11      What are Credits?

Members will receive either 1 or 2 Credits after each monthly payment is made, depending on which Monthly membership plan is chosen. Credits are the easy way to purchase audiobooks vs shopping by price. Credits are given when payment is made and can be used to purchase audiobooks. Most audiobooks cost 1 Credit, although some cost ½, 1½, or 2 Credits, depending on the book's length. Credits will never expire and will continue to rollover to the next month if not used (with an active account).

12      Which portable devices can the audiobooks be played on?

MP3 files are a common format for audio files and can be played on nearly all MP3 Players including older models, as well as many smartphones and tablets. If you choose the M4B format, they can ONLY be played on Apple products, including iPod, iPhone, and iPad. We recommend checking the User Guide for your portable device to ensure compatibility with MP3 and/or M4B files.

13      What geographical sales restrictions do you have?

Publishers buy the rights to distribute each audiobook title to certain parts of the world. Sometimes they buy the rights to distribute a title to the entire world, but sometimes they buy rights to distribute a title to only a few countries. When this happens, there must be geographical sales restrictions put into place to restrict the distribution of a title to only the geographical locations that the publisher has bought. The way that this is enforced on is to only show the audiobooks that are available for purchase based on the customer’s billing address. This means that after a user logs in, the number of audiobooks available will be adjusted based on the geographical sales restrictions for their location.


14      What is the Connect Installer?

The Connect Installer is a world-class downloader system that incorporates the latest technology to deliver large digital audiobooks to our customers in the fastest way possible. When an audiobook is purchased and ready for download, you will be prompted to run the latest version of the Connect Installer and this tool will manage the download of the audiobook to your computer.

15      How do I download the audiobooks to my computer?

16      How do I transfer the audiobooks from my computer to my MP3 Player?

Please visit the Download Guide page for detailed instructions on how to transfer the audiobooks from your computer to your MP3 Player or smartphone or tablet. We have detailed instructions for transferring to both an Apple product (iPod®, iPhone®, iPad®) via iTunes or to a non-Apple product (MP3 Player, smartphone, tablet) via Windows Media Player.

17      What if I don’t have an MP3 Player or other listening device?

If you would like to listen to your audiobooks while you are commuting to/from work, exercising, running errands, or simply on the go, then we recommend that you purchase an MP3 Player or Smartphone that is able to play MP3 and/or M4B files. And if you plan to listen in your car, then most newer cars have an MP3 (iPod®) direct connection already built into the car (with appropriate connector). If your car doesn’t have a direct connection option, then you can purchase an FM Transmitter that you can connect your MP3 Player to and play your audiobooks through your car’s speakers.


18      How can I ensure that I don’t lose my place in the audiobook when I take a break from listening?

If you are listening to the M4B audio format, then there is already a "bookmarking" feature built-in, which will save the playback position even if another music option is selected before the audiobook is completed.

If you are listening to the MP3 audio format, then there are a few rules you will need to follow so that you do not lose your place in your audiobook. Although MP3 files do not have the “bookmarking” feature built-in, the playback position will still be remembered if the portable audio player is left on the audiobook. The player can be paused and/or turned off and when the player is turned back on, it will remember the playback position. The main thing to remember is to not change to another music selection while you are listening to an audiobook since the player will remember only the last selection you were playing. As long as you keep the audiobook as the last selection, then the playback position will be remembered and you will not lose your place.


19      When will I be billed each month?

If you are signed up for a Monthly Membership Plan, your credit card on file will be billed each month from the date that you originally signed up. For example, if you signed up on March 8, then your credit card will be charged on April 8, then on May 8, etc.

20      Will I be charged tax?

Only customers who are located in the state of Arizona will be charged tax.

21      What if my credit card changes?

Please Sign In by clicking on “Member Sign In” in the upper right corner of the page, then on the “My Account” page, select “Update” under your credit card information.
